The Hunterian Anatomy Museum showcases the history of anatomy and medicine at the University of Glasgow and is home to a range of remarkable objects and anatomical preparations dating from the 18th to the early 20th century. These include the anatomical and pathological collections of William Hunter (1718–1783) and John Cleland (1835–1925) as well as highlights such as 19th century embryological wax models by the Ziegler workshop and early 20th century anatomical teaching charts.
The museum is normally closed to the public except for special events – and, as of 2025, on the last Wednesday of each month from 4–6pm. Join us for this month's opening and explore the museum and its collections. There will be a short introductory talk about the museum and its history at 4:15 pm. Members of staff will also be on site throughout the event to answer any questions or point out and explain important specimens and artefacts.

The Hunterian Anatomy Museum is located in the Thomson Building, within the Anatomy Facility at the University’s School of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. The student entrance will be open to visitors, and there will be signs to direct you. Please note that for both legal and ethical reasons, no photography is allowed in the Museum and Facility.

Accessibility: The museum consists of one large room with a ground floor and upper gallery; while the ground floor is fully accessible and accessible toilet facilities are available, the gallery, which houses the majority of the fluid-preserved collections, can unfortunately only be reached via stairs.
