A Long View of Artistic Practice
About this Event
Artist Rona Lee, Kath Wood, Director of New Art at Home and Jon Opie, Head of Artist Support at Acme, discuss longevity in artistic practice.
As part of the closing event for Rona’s solo exhibition EyeSore, which presents recent wall-based work, marking a new direction in her practice, Rona and Kath return to a shared history of working together as curator and artist dating back to the 1990s, and are joined by Jon to reflect on the shifts and changes that occur when practising as an artist over many years. Together they will consider how artistic and personal drivers evolve over time, how resilience is built within unstable cultural conditions, and what it takes to sustain an active arts practice across a lifetime.
Rona Lee is an artist who works in an expanded manner. She was previously Professor of Fine Art at Northumbria University and holds the Acme Jonathan Harvey Tenant Award 2025/6, which supports artists with a long-term practice. Kath Wood MBE is the Director of Art at Home and has worked in the UK visual arts sector for over 30 years. Jon Opie is Head of Artist Support at Acme and was previously Deputy Director of Jerwood Arts.
