A Level Up Club Event: POLICHICS
About this Event
Think politics has nothing to do with you?
What about:
- The cost of housing
- Access to healthcare
- Childcare and family support
- Public transport
- Women's safety
- Maternity rights
- Career opportunities
- Equal pay
- Mental health services
- The environment we leave behind for future generations...
Politics shapes far more of our everyday lives than most of us realise.
And with a General Election approaching, we think it's the perfect time to understand how the Manx political system works, why your vote matters, and how we can all have a stronger voice in the future of our Island.
The Isle of Man has a remarkable political history. In fact, we were the first place where women won the right to vote. That's something worth celebrating.
Join us for an evening designed to make politics feel accessible, interesting and relevant.
What To Expect:
🏛️ A Guided Tour of the Tynwald Building
We'll go behind the scenes and learn more about the home of Manx democracy, how decisions are made, and the role our elected representatives play.
💡 Understanding The Manx Political System
We'll explore how government works on the Isle of Man, what MHKs actually do, and why we're incredibly lucky to have such direct access to our representatives compared to many other places in the world.
🎨 The Island We Deserve Workshop
Led by Julia from Cullen Creative, we'll move from learning to imagining.
Through a relaxed and creative workshop, we'll explore:
- What kind of Island we want to live in
- What matters most to women today
- What we'd love to see for future generations
- The opportunities and challenges facing women on the Isle of Man
Together, we'll create a collaborative piece of artwork that captures our hopes, ideas and ambitions for the future.
Turning Conversation Into Action
This isn't just a conversation for one evening. We'll gather the key themes, ideas and priorities that emerge from the workshop and create a summary document to share with the Island's newly elected MHKs.
Our aim is simple: to help decision-makers better understand what women like us care about, value and want to see from the future of our Island.
Whether you're a political enthusiast, a first-time voter, or someone who usually avoids politics altogether, this event is for you.
Because your voice matters.
And using your vote is one of the most powerful ways to make it heard - but you already know that!
