About this Event

This session will examine the issues that most frequently give rise to trust disputes and regulatory scrutiny, drawing on practical examples from contentious trust and fiduciary matters. Focusing on governance, decision-making, conflicts of interest, record keeping and beneficiary relations, the presentation will explore how seemingly routine administrative decisions can later come under the microscope in litigation. The session will identify common pitfalls for trustees, directors and corporate service providers and offer practical insights into reducing risk and building more resilient governance frameworks.

Guest speaker - Joshua Quinn - Director and Head of Trust & Private Clients at DQ Advocates. Joshua joined the firm in 2022 and advises trustees, corporate service providers, family offices and private clients on a broad range of trust, private client, corporate and regulatory matters. His practice spans both contentious and non-contentious work, with a particular focus on fiduciary duties, governance issues, trust disputes and complex cross-border structures.

Joshua has extensive litigation experience, having acted in a wide range of trust, shareholder, insolvency, and commercial disputes before the Isle of Man courts. He regularly advises trustees and fiduciaries on managing legal, regulatory, and reputational risk, including in situations where decisions, governance processes and fiduciary conduct are subject to scrutiny by beneficiaries, regulators, or the courts.

Drawing on both advisory and contentious experience, Joshua works closely with trustees and corporate service providers to navigate complex issues arising in the administration of private wealth structures and to mitigate the risks that can give rise to disputes.
