A History Exposed Exhibition Opening

Join the Museums of Mississauga on October 4th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM as we celebrate the opening of Adamson Estate and the launch of A History Exposed: The Enslavement of Black People in Canada. This marks the first time Adamson will be continuously open to the public in over 40 years. Starting in October, the Museums of Mississauga will be presenting meaningful, high-quality exhibitions about our heritage at Adamson Estate, beginning with A History Exposed: The Enslavement of Black People in Canada. On loan to us exclusively from the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, the exhibition was created with Dr. Afua Cooper and in partnership with the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia.

This groundbreaking new exhibition will spend the next four years touring across Canada, and Adamson Estate will be its only stop in the GTA. To accompany this project, Museums of Mississauga have curated an exhibition on Mississauga's Black History to highlight local connections. We are thrilled to be able to cast light on some of the City's founding Black families and their incredible lives here, history that until recently has been largely unknown.
