Join us for a spine-tingling afternoon featuring two acclaimed voices in horror fiction. Bram Stoker Award-winning author Cynthia Pelayo and celebrated novelist Diana Rodriguez Wallach will discuss their latest books, delve into the dark corners of the horror genre, and discuss how they put the paranormal on the page. Whether you are a fan of the horror genre, a regular reader of psychological thrillers, or looking to get into the Halloween spirit, this conversation is sure to entertain!
Book signing to follow. Books will be available to purchase from White Whale Bookstore. Complimentary copies of Vanishing Daughters and The Silenced will be given away while supplies last. One book per in-person attendee.
This event takes place in CLP-Homewood Auditorium. Registration encouraged, walk-ins welcome. Doors open at 1:30 pm.
Cynthia Pelayo is a Bram Stoker Award-winning and International Latino Book Award-winning author and poet. Pelayo writes fairy tales that blend genre and explore concepts of grief, mourning, and cycles of violence. She is the author of Loteria, Poems of My Night, Into the Forest and All the Way Through, Children of Chicago, Crime Scene, The Shoemaker’s Magician, Forgotten Sisters, as well as dozens of standalone short stories and poems.
Diana Rodriguez Wallach is a lover of haunted locations, feminist horror, and all things spooky. She is also the author of nine young adult novels, including The Silenced (coming out September 2025), Small Town Monsters, named one of the “13 Scariest Books of 2021”, Hatchet Girls, and The Silenced. She is a co-host on the writing podcast, The Paper Trail, and she teaches an annual writing course through the Highlights Foundation. She lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband, two children, and two cats.
