As part of Tabor Group’s flagship Recovery Month event, on Wednesday 30th September from 2:30pm at Vertigo at Cork County Hall, we invite you to join us for a thought-provoking and inspiring afternoon exploring this year’s central question: Why is Gambling So Difficult to Escape?
Hosted by RTÉ journalist and broadcaster Brian O’Connell, the event will feature a powerful keynote conversation with Danny Buckley founder of ADHD Now.
Danny Buckley is Director and Founder of ADHD Now, inspired by his own lived experience of ADHD. His journey through assessment and diagnosis highlighted the barriers many people face when seeking support. Danny founded ADHD Now to make accessing ADHD assessment and care more accessible, timely and compassionate.
The conversation will be followed by a focused panel discussion examining why gambling has become increasingly difficult to escape. Bringing together perspectives from lived experience, sport, specialist practice and family support, the panel will consider:
- Why some people may be more vulnerable to gambling harm
- How smartphones, online access, advertising and sport have changed the risks
- Why gambling addiction can remain hidden for so long
- The financial, emotional and relational impact on families
- What supports meaningful and sustained recovery
The afternoon will provide an honest and thought-provoking discussion on modern gambling, its impact on individuals, families and communities, and what needs to change to reduce harm and support recovery.
