A night of sound and connection, celebrating the meeting of coasts on Tkaronto
About this Event

A Convergence of Coasts in Tkaronto; Where The Trees Meet is an experimental jazz showcase. Join us for a night of sound and connection, celebrating the meeting of coasts on Tkaronto.

From the salt of the Atlantic to the pulse of the Pacific to the shores of the Great Lakes, three artists, three territories, one city. Featuring

  • SKYLA J & OZ (Vancouver / Salish Territory) | LISTEN HERE: https://www.youtube.com/@SkylaJ
Skyla J and Oz - After nearly a decade-long hiatus since Greenlaw, UK recording artists Skyla J and Oz return with a bold and deeply personal new chapter. The couple unveils a fresh sonic landscape that fuses soulful songwriting, lush electronic production, deep dub rhythms, jazz-infused textures, and the atmospheric pulse of trip hop Drawing on decades of musical collaboration while embracing new creative territory, Skyla J and Oz deliver a sound that feels both timeless and forward-looking. More than a comeback, this is an evolution, a powerful re-emergence from artists whose passion, chemistry, and creative vision continue to resonate with depth, authenticity, and soul.

  • LAL (Toronto / Tkaronto) | LISTEN HERE:
For over two decades, Polaris Prize–longlisted Toronto duo LAL; Bengali-rooted vocalist and activist Rosina Kazi and Barbados-born producer Nicholas “Murr” Murray, have built a catalogue of silvery, internationally influenced electronica that insists the dancefloor remain a site of resistance and renewal. The first single from LAL’s new LP, titled "Practice Of Love" is "Shadows Of Your Dreams", which released in March 2026. This offering shares an emotional and philosophical tone for a body of work forged through personal and collective transformation. This new LP was created in deep collaboration with a chosen family, including multidisciplinary artists, Victor Robert Kee III aka Folke, Ange Loft, musicians V and Ian de Souza, filmmakers Jose Garcia and Jaek Eastcott, and Jaws, whose care and coordination hold the work together. This collaborative process is not incidental—it reflects the album’s central insistence that art, like survival, is something we do together.
