We will explore the nature reserve, looking for late-summer butterflies. We will focus on seeking decent views of Brown Hairstreak.
About this Event

Otmoor is an RSPB Nature Reserve comprising an extensive complex of wetlands with important Blackthorn hedges and over 1.5 miles of trails. It supports a wide range of wetland wildlife, including several scarce species.

We will explore the site, looking for its summer butterflies and day-flying moths, spending quite a bit of time along the ‘Roman Road’, seeking sheltered areas and plants in bloom in the hope of getting good views of nectaring and basking butterflies. With luck, we will find the rare Brown Hairstreak amongst other late summer species.

Accessibility & risks: Trails are mainly flat but can be muddy and uneven in places. Benches and gates. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks.

Please check here the evening before the walk to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.

Meet at the Reserve car park, at the end of Otmoor Lane, Beckley. Note: there is a parking fee (currently £2 per car) for non-RSPB members).
