A Big Celebration of Sylvia's Life
In true Sylvia fashion, she did not want anything formal or somber. She wanted "a big effing party"—with people together, good music, stories, laughter, and a proper celebration of her life. So that’s exactly what we’re doing.
Sylvia lived her entire life in Campbell River and was known and loved by so many in the community. To countless students over the years—and even long after her working days—she was simply known as “Mom.”
Sylvia spent many years working as a secretary with School District 72, mostly at Carihi Secondary School, where she became a familiar and caring presence to students and staff. After retiring in 2002, she enjoyed gardening, spending time in her yard, and making homemade jams for local craft fairs. She was also very involved with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 137, where she built many lasting friendships. Travel was another joy in her life, especially visits to the Orkney Islands, where her family roots trace back.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Trevor Jago; her son, Troy Alexander; her brother-in-law, Peter Jago; her sister-in-law, Ann Jago; and many extended family members and friends.
