The Philippines Transformative Approaches to Innovative Leadership (TRAIL) Leaders’ Camp is an intensive capability development program developed by Youthlead Philippines (YLP) Inc. The program aims to equip youth leaders and adult leaders with the right skills and values to make their leadership more meaningful and dynamic using transformative approaches. It endeavors to simplify the principles of Transformational Leadership, make them real by using specific, individual, and team-based exercises giving participants the unique and exciting experience of “learning by doing” and “learning while having fun”.
Organized annually, the back-to-basic TRAIL Camp brings participants to different learning environments jam-packed with various indoor and outdoor exercises. Topic presentations are rendered by high caliber speakers, while program facilitation is handled by a pool of trained facilitators from YLP. Other activities include solidarity dances, learning convergences, and reflection pathways that are designed to stimulate and keep the youth and adult leaders grounded and engaged. The participants are further grouped into youth (Tyros) and adult (Mentors) tribus. Together, they vie for the title of the TRAIL Camp’s Primus Tribu.
The TRAIL Camp is considered a pioneer in capability development for youth and adult leaders, with its methodologies being replicated by schools and community organizations across the country. It has also received national endorsements and positive feedback for its innovative and effective training methodologies. For the past two years, the TRAIL Camp has garnered an average general evaluation score of 97 percent A or 3.9 (Excellent). A significant portion of the proceeds of the TRAIL Camp goes to the I Transform! Campaign, the Sustainable Development Goals advocacy program of YLP. The campaign has successfully support local communities all over the Philippines in solving problems that meet the SDGs.
