About this Event
Welcome to the **8th Community Forum on Healthy Aging: Staying Healthy, Strong and Resilient**
Join us online starting Mon, Nov 11, 2024, 17:00:00 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) for a two-day filled with insightful discussions and practical tips on maintaining your health and wellness as you age. Our expert speakers will cover brain health, mental wellness, nutrition, and sexual health. See you there!
The Community Forum on Healthy Aging is an annual event where local residents, patients, scientists, and healthcare professionals come together for a "real talk" about healthy aging and to share what scientists and clinicians understand so far about living well as we age.
Spearheaded by our Community Research Advisory Council and the Community & Collaboration Core (CCC) at the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical Translational Research (ICTR), the Healthy Aging Forum is an annual event. This year's theme is "Staying Healthy, Strong, and Resilient."
The forum will be offered virtually via Zoom in two parts over two evenings. You can also call in.
Please note that the "main room" of the forum will be recorded for future viewing for those unable to attend. Participants may opt-out from identification in the recording by muting their audio, disabling their video, and changing their name upon entering the meeting. However, there will be NO recordings for the breakout sessions to allow for greater honest conversations. The event recordings will be posted on the ICTR Website.

Part 2: Tuesday, November 12th, 5-7 pm EST: Healthy Lifestyles and Vitality
Hosted by Ms. Crystal Evans and Dr. LA McCrae this evening will harness the power of safe spaces to promote honest conversations between experts in life and experts in science about prevention and healthy living.
- Dr. Hailey Miller and Whitney Ashead will discuss Eating Healthy for the Heart and the Mind.
- Mica Saunders , Body Chemist, and Senior Enrichment Specialist, will guide participants through a yoga and breathing demonstration.
- Breakout Sessions. You can choose to attend one of three breakout sessions where you will be joined by guests who are experts in topics that you have told us you want to know more about. These breakout sessions are where safe conversation spaces are nurtured for “real talks,” honest conversations exploring health and social topics important to our communities. These sessions include the Clubhouse, which welcomes the LGBTQIA communities and non-binary individuals, the Man Cave, and Sister Circle. We aim to discuss staying strong, resilient, authentic, and inclusive as we age.
WHAT TO EXPECT
While this is a virtual event, it is a “hands-on,” interactive forum on healthy aging that includes fitness demonstrations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions highlighting health-related topics impacting all individuals experiencing aging.
