🌙✨ Join Us at Sunset for the 8th Annual Moth Night! ✨🌙
📅 July 18, 2026
🕣 8:30 PM – 11:30 PM
📍 Hallberg Butterfly Gardens, Sebastopol
🎟 Registration Required
Celebrate the "butterflies of the night" on the first evening of National Moth Week 2026.
Join us at sunset as the garden transitions from day to night and a whole new world begins to emerge. Under a waning crescent moon, guests are invited to explore the trails, observe nocturnal wildlife, and discover the hidden lives of moths and other nighttime creatures.
This is not a guided tour, but Curator Meghan Peterman will host a brief welcome orientation before guests set off with an event map to explore at their own pace. Visit UV light stations, join special activities, or simply enjoy a peaceful walk beneath the stars.
Peak moth activity is typically between 10:00 and 11:00 PM, when the UV stations come alive with fascinating insects.
Bring a flashlight or headlamp, warm layers, a camera or phone, and your curiosity.
All observations will be added to our 2026 Moth Night iNaturalist Project, helping document the incredible biodiversity of Sonoma County.
There is something truly special about being in the garden at night. We hope you'll join us for this unique annual tradition.
