The Montgomery County Beekeepers Association will be hosting our 8th Annual Introduction to Beekeeping Course Saturday, February 28th 2026. Registration will begin at 7:30 and the course will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with an hour lunch break. The course will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 414 E. Myrtle Street in Independence, Ks. Pre-registration is requested by February 26th. The cost of the class is $25 per household for those pre-registered or $30 at the door on the day of the event. Price includes the course, a book entitled “First Lessons in Beekeeping” and a one-year club membership to the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association. This is a one-day, beginner’s course that will prepare the new beekeeper for their first year of beekeeping. The course will cover topics such as where to purchase bees, equipment, safety precautions, hive inspections, beekeeper’s calendar and much more. Pre-registrations should be received no later than February 26th. While pre-registration is not required, it is appreciated as this class has increased in popularity over the years.
