Beginner Crochet Series
Ready to pick up a fun new hobby? Join our Beginner Crochet Series and dive into the world of crocheting your own clothing! This is an in-person event where you'll learn the basics, make new friends, and create a cool project step-by-step. No experience needed! Just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to craft!
We'll be crocheting the Bennett Vest by SmallPotatoKnitwear on Instagram. This is a size inclusive, beginner friendly, gender neutral, and versatile pattern that can be made in just a few weeks.
We will meet weekly on Thursdays from 7pm-9pm at Wake and Bake on Mesa in west El Paso for 8 weeks. Your ticket includes cotton yarn in your choice of colors, all supplies needed, instruction, and 10% off drinks during our meet ups! if you are unavailable on weekday evenings, I will also be available at Wake and Bake on Saturdays from 5pm-7pm.
If you would like to purchase your own yarn(we don't judge acrylic here, or maybe you would like something fancier than cotton), please select the Bring Your Own Yarn ticket option!

Week 1: Crochet Basics
Info: On Week 1, yarn and materials will be provided, as well as initial instruction on how to crochet. We will begin with the basics, and by the end of the night, you will have a base that you can continue working on until the next meetup.

Week 2: Reading a Pattern
Info: On Week 2, we will spend the first hour learning how to read a pattern using the stitches learned in Week 1. We will check the work completed during the past week, whether it be half a row or ten, and make sure everybody is on the right path. Then we will spend the second hour making progress on our Bennett Vests with good company and an instructor available.

Week 3: Measurable Progress
Info: On Week 3, everyone should have a semblance of a rectangle crocheted, and participants can begin working more independently. This course follows each crocheter's individual pace and support will be provided as you reach each step of the pattern.

Week 4-7: Weekly Meetup
Info: During weeks 4-7, you will learn different stitches, techniques, tips, and tricks to complete your Bennett Vest. We will continue to meet weekly to provide you with a social space and support while you complete your project. On week 7, we will cover assembly of the Bennet Vest.

Week 8: Weaving Ends and Presentation
Info: On Week 8, you will be putting the finishing touches on your Bennett Vests and presenting them to your workshop peers! Bring a coordinated outfit to wear your Bennett Vest with or use a hanger to present your project.
