Join us for our, in-person, Vision/Hearing Certification Trainings hosted by Texas Health Steps (THS) Public Health Region (PHR) 10
***Vision Certification:
Session 1: Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from *9 am - 4 pm
Session 2: Thursday, June 17, 2026 from *9 am - 4 pm
***Hearing Certification:
Session 1: Wednesday, July 16, 2026, from *9 am - 4 pm
Session 2: Thursday, August 20, 2026 from *9 am - 4 pm
*Time includes a 1 hour lunch. Lunch is not provided but there are many eateries, within walking distance, and office has a break room to store/warm food.
***IF NEEDING BOTH VISION & HEARING CERTIFICATIONS, YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER FOR ONE VISION CERTIFICATION SESSION AND ONE HEARING CERTIFICATION SESSION***
**Space is limited to 12 attendees per session
This is a valuable opportunity to enhance patient care by aligning with State school & childcare standards and review THS vision/hearing screening guidelines.
With the completion of this training, you will:
- Become a Certified Screener within the State of Texas
- Receive a Vision/Hearing Certification Card, valid for 5 years
Who should attend:
Physicians, nurses, clinic staff and other healthcare professionals serving, or planning to serve, Medicaid members from birth through 20 years of age.
About Texas Health Steps:
Texas Health Steps (THS) focuses on medical, dental, and case management services for people 20 and younger, and is dedicated to:
- Expanding recipient awareness of existing medical, dental, and case management services through outreach and informational efforts.
- Recruiting and retaining a qualified provider pool to assure the availability of comprehensive preventive medical, dental, and case management services.

About Regional Provider Relations (PR) Staff:
Regional PR staff help operate THS statewide. PR staff report to the Specialized Health and Social Service managers in each of the 8 Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Public Health Service Regions. Provider Relations staff serve many functions, including collaborating with community stakeholders and partners, developing relationships with providers, provider recruitment and retention, provider visits, technical assistance, contact documentation and data collection, provider relations activities reporting, formal provider training, expert forums, and other events .
