7/13 KNIFE SKILLS - The Foodie School
About this Event
KNIFE SKILLS WORKSHOP
Great cooking starts with great knife skills. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to handle your chef’s knife safely, efficiently, and with confidence while mastering the essential cuts used in both home and professional kitchens.
We’ll begin with proper knife handling, sharpening, and safety techniques before moving into classic culinary cuts such as dice, julienne, chiffonade, and batonnet. You’ll learn not just how to cut, but when and why each cut is used in real cooking.
After practicing your skills, you’ll put everything to work preparing a full seasonal meal. Once everything is cooked, you’ll sit down and enjoy the dishes you created from scratch.
Students are encouraged to bring their own chef’s knife (8-inch or larger, non-serrated), though house knives will be available for use.
🍽️ On the Menu:
• Tomato Soup

• Roasted Seasonal Vegetables
