Celebrate the 5th Annual Florida Native Plant Month with Citrus County Parks & Recreation! Join us for a fun and educational workshop and social gathering focused on discovering the beauty, benefits, and importance of Florida’s native plants. 🌼🦋🐦
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, you’ll learn what makes a plant native, explore Florida’s native plant communities, and discover how native plants can support birds, pollinators, and other local wildlife. We’ll also highlight common native species for Citrus County landscapes and share practical tips for choosing the right plants for your home.
Throughout the morning, we’ll cover planting for birds, pollinators, and wildlife, including host plants, nectar plants, creating wildlife-friendly landscapes, and seasonal planting recommendations. We’ll also discuss selecting plants based on sun, shade, and moisture conditions and ways native landscaping can help reduce maintenance.
