About the 55+ Day Trip to Taylors Falls for a Boat Cruise

Experience the stunning sandstone cliffs and historic charm of the St. Croix River on an 80-minute narrated paddlewheel boat cruise from Taylors Falls, complete with a sack lunch served on board. After the cruise, we’ll stop at Pine Tree Apple Orchard to browse seasonal apples and delicious bakery treats before returning to Ramsey in the afternoon.

Pre-registration is required. Registration is open until Sunday, September 13 at midnight, or until full. No refunds will be issued after this date.

Tentative Itinerary:

9:15 a.m. Leave Ramsey City Hall

10:15 a.m. Arrive at Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours to board the boat. Water levels will determine accessibility.

There are approximately 20 steps from the bus to the boat. There is a golf cart shuttle available to any who cannot manage stairs. If you would like assistance, please let your trip lead or onsite staff know.

11:00 a.m. Depart on the 80-minute public cruise. Since 1906, thousands of tourists have enjoyed the scenic beauty of the world-famous Dalles (Dells) of the St. Croix River by authentic paddlewheel boat. The unique rock formations are highlighted by the narration by the crew. The view inspires awe, not just for its beauty but also for the provision of this river that is sculpted through ancient volcanic rock. The Ojibwa, Dakota and Fox people revered the land. Trappers and traders glided in canoes and Bateaux between the basaltic walls they called dalles. Courageous early settlers built a riverside town where steam navigation stopped. This cruise provides a picture postcard view that will not soon be forgotten.

Have a sack luncheon prepared by the boat company catering team. Menu: Sandwich with turkey & cheddar cheese, mayonnaise and mustard packets, chips, pickles, cookie, and coffee.

12:20 p.m. Boat returns to the dock. Reboard the motor coach

12:45 p.m. Leave Taylor’s Falls.

1:45 p.m. Arrive at Pine Tree Apple Orchard to shop. Each fall they have many different apple varieties to choose from as well as fabulous apple bakery products.

2:45 p.m. Leave Pine Tree Orchard.

3:45 p.m. Estimated return time to Ramsey.
