Join us in Michigan's State Capital for a vibrant, four-day celebration of Hispanic culture, heritage, business, food, music, and community.
Ourspace Foundation is proud to present the 4th Annual 517 Hispanic Heritage Weekend, honoring the traditions, stories, and lasting contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across Michigan and beyond.
A Taste of Hispanic Heritage Festival:
Saturday, September 19 | 3:00 PM–10:00 PM
(Capitol Avenue between Ottawa and Allegan)
Experience the centerpiece of the weekend directly in front of the Michigan State Capitol. Enjoy live music, DJs, luchador wrestling, folklórico dancing, food trucks and vendors representing cultures from across Latin America and the Caribbean, local businesses, informational booths, family activities, and dancing in the streets.
Why We Celebrate:
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed nationally from September 15 to October 15, recognizing the cultures, histories, and achievements of people with roots in Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Spain, and other Spanish-speaking communities. This weekend brings those stories to life through culture, connection, entrepreneurship, and community celebration.
Weekend Lineup:
Thursday, September 17 – Hispanic Heritage Seminar & Business Mixer
Kick off the weekend at Lansing City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Avenue, for an evening presented in collaboration with the Latino Business Conexión of Michigan. The event will feature a keynote address, panel discussion, community resources, and a business mixer connecting entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders.
Friday, September 18 – Salsa & Bachata by the River
Meet us on the Lansing Shuffle patio for beginner-friendly salsa and bachata lessons, followed by a live DJ, open dancing, food vendors, and views of the Grand River and Lansing River Trail.
Saturday, September 19 – A Taste of Hispanic Heritage Festival
From 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Capitol Avenue between Ottawa and Allegan will transform into a cultural festival directly in front of the Michigan State Capitol.
Sunday, September 20 – Latin Jazz Night
Close out the weekend on the Lansing Shuffle patio with a live band, DJ sets, dancing, food vendors, and an evening of Latin jazz along the river.
