Overview of Stanislavski’s method: Emotional memory, objectives, and actions.
Introduction to Given Circumstances (who, what, where, when, why).
Actors choose a scene from a play/film that will be what will be worked on throughout the course

Info: Class 2: Objectives & Super Objectives

What does your character want? Discovering scene objectives.
Difference between super objectives (life goals) and scene objectives (momentary goals).
Exercise: Actors identify their character’s obstacles and tactics to achieve their objectives.
Scene read-through with focus on character goals.

Using personal experiences to connect with emotions in the scene.
Exercise: Actors recall a personal emotional memory and apply it to the character’s moment.

Using movement and gestures to externalize internal emotions.
Exploring how body language and posture affect performance.
Exercise: Scene work using psychological gestures to deepen emotion.
