1-2-1 VINYL DJ LESSONS FOR WOMEN

Dates & Times: Mondays or Tuesdays; 5 Week Course (choose your day & time slot)

Due to popular demand following our free workshops, PXSSY X VINYL is thrilled to offer private tuition sessions! Choose your preferred time slot every Monday or Tuesday for a personalised 5-week journey into the art of vinyl DJing.

Each week, you'll dive into a new chapter of vinyl mastery - whatever genre you play, we will work with.

Designed for complete beginners, this course is taught by PXSSY X VINYL founder YDLR, herself a vinyl-only DJ.

Course Length: 5 weeks (beginning 29th or 30th June; ending 27th or 28th July)
Lesson Duration: 2 hours per session
Level: Complete Beginner
Outcome: By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently mix records on vinyl, build a basic DJ set, and perform a short mix.

What to Bring: You don't need to bring anything, we have all teaching materials necessary including records, however, it would be helpful and only aid your learning to bring the genre of records you wish to play with and the headphones you are used to using.

By booking a place on this course, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

Attendance & Commitment
This is a 5-week course delivered on the same day and at the same time each week.
By booking, you are committing to attend the full course and understand that your place is reserved for the entire duration.
It is the student's responsibility to attend all scheduled sessions. Missed sessions cannot be refunded or transferred.

Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations made more than 7 days before the course start date are eligible for a refund, minus any booking or payment processing fees where applicable.
No full or partial refunds will be issued within 7 days of the course start date.
Once the course has started, no full or partial refunds will be issued.

Course Changes
In the unlikely event that the course tutor needs to cancel or reschedule a session, an alternative date will be offered.
If the entire course is cancelled by the organiser, a full refund will be provided.

Agreement
By completing your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and are able to attend the course at the scheduled day and time each week.

Due to the limited number of places available, all bookings are considered a commitment to the full course.



Agenda
Week 1: Introduction to Vinyl DJing & Equipment

Info: Learn the role of a DJ and the fundamentals of vinyl culture and music selection. Identify and understand the function of turntables, mixer, cartridges, needles, and headphones.
Set up equipment correctly and safely.
Learn cueing techniques and how to find the first beat of a track.
Practice starting, stopping, and handling records with confidence.


Week 2: Beat Matching Fundamentals

Info: Understand tempo (BPM), phrasing, bars, and musical structure.
Learn manual beat matching without using visual aids.
Develop listening skills to identify when tracks are drifting apart.
Practice adjusting pitch control and nudging records.
Complete simple beat-matching exercises between two tracks.


Week 3: Succeeding at Your First Mixes & Blends

Info: Learn how to transition smoothly between records.
Understand EQ controls and basic mixer techniques.
Practice timing mixes using phrases and track structure.
Develop confidence in headphone cueing while mixing live.
Complete several short mixes using compatible tracks.


Week 4: Building a DJ Set

Info: Learn how to select tracks that work well together.
Explore energy flow, mood, and pacing within a set.
Practice longer transitions and maintaining consistent mixes.
Troubleshoot common mixing challenges and recover from mistakes.
Begin planning a 15–20 minute practice set.


Week 5: Performance & Consolidation

Info: Refine beat matching, transitions, and EQ techniques.
Practice performing a structured mini-set from start to finish.
Create a personalised practice plan for continued development after the course.
