4th Annual International Overdose Awareness Day
This year's international theme is: 25 Years On. Still Needed.
For 25 years, International Overdose Awareness Day has united communities around the world through remembrance, education, advocacy, and hope.
The truth is, we shouldn't still need this day. But we do.
Overdose continues to affect every community. Yet we know that many overdoses are preventable. By speaking openly, reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and connecting people to support, we can build a future where fewer lives are lost.
Because while this day is still needed, it doesn't have to be forever.
This year marks Hope Above Fear's 4th Annual International Overdose Awareness Day event in Escambia County, and with the support of our Signature Sponsor, the Florida Department of Health, we're making it bigger than ever before.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of IOAD, attendees will experience 25 opportunities for remembrance, connection, education, healing, and hope, including:
🕯️ Memorial Wall honoring local loved ones lost to overdose
💜 Message Wall where attendees can share memories, encouragement, and messages of hope
🎶 Live music throughout the evening
🎨 Arts and crafts activities hosted by Valerie's House
🎨 Teen Spray Paint Clinic hosted by Graffiti Bridge
🍔 Food trucks, including Globetrotter Street Food and Blessed Berry Bowls: Stop by the registration table to receive a complimentary ticket while supplies last.
🤝 Resource Village featuring local recovery, prevention, treatment, and support organizations offering education, resources, and Naloxone (Narcan) training and distribution
🧘 Wellness and healing experiences, including:
• Pensacola Beach Yoga
• Empathic Practice mindfulness and breathing exercises
• Bunny Chick Haven of Navarre animal therapy
• And more!
🎤 Beginning at 7:00 PM, hear powerful stories of loss, love, resilience, recovery, and survival from members of our local community.
Whether you have lost someone, are supporting a loved one, work in prevention or recovery, or simply want to learn more, we invite you to join us.
Together, we remember.
Together, we support.
Together, we take action.
Because every life matters, every story matters, and every overdose death is one too many.
We look forward to seeing you there!
