About this Event
Overcoming Anger: The Art of Acceptance
"Since it is impossible to fulfil all our desires or to stop unwanted things happening to us, we need to find a different way of relating to frustrated desires and unwanted occurrences. We need to learn patient acceptance."
- Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as our problem, and this all too often leads to negative inner responses such as anger, frustration, anxiety, stress and irritation. But in reality, whatever problems we experience come from the side of the mind. If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind, they would not be problems for us; indeed, we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development.
During this 4-week meditation course we will learn tried and tested methods to overcome the painful states of anger and frustration by training in its opposite, patient acceptance. By training to become deeply familiar with patience, our relationship with difficult people and difficult circumstances will change, and we will gradually develop the ability to remain peaceful and happy whatever occurs.
Each class includes:
- Guided Meditations: Learn calming and transformative meditations that help to reduce the power of attachment and cultivate genuine contentment
- Practical Teachings: Receive accessible, step-by-step advice on how to recognise, reduce, and eventually abandon attachment, enabling you to maintain a peaceful mind modern daily life
- Question & Answer: Feel free to hang back after class and have your questions answered to ensure that you walk away from the course knowing how to apply what you've learnt with confidence
No prior experience or particular religious beliefs are necessary to attend this series – everyone is welcome!
