3rd Annual Anthony Geddes Memorial Cup

Hey team,
Over the last 2 years, we as a collective have been able to raise over $5000 to donate to ALS research. There have been some very exciting results in several ALS studies (one right here in Canada) that are showing there is a possibility humanity could be rid of this wretched disease in the not too distant future! This is incredibly exciting news. But we aren't there quite yet. My hope is that this year we can smash through that combined $10,000 mark!
We are pushing the tournament into September this year in the hope to have more people join as I know you natural born Canadian covet your summer weekends like Gollum and the one ring).
For folks who have joined previously, welcome back :) your support and dedication have been so wonderful and we can't wait to have you join again this year!
For people who are new this year, 4 years ago my father Anthony died of ALS. I saw how devastating this disease is firsthand, and I cannot stress enough how important it is that someone is able to find a cure for this horrible disease. In his life, my dad was a huge fan of sports and games, particularly with his mates and family. In his honour, I wanted to get as many friends as possible each year to raise some money and to spread awareness by having fun together outdoors.
For the 3nd annual event, we will again be hosting the games at the ball diamond at the end of our street 🙂 We will play the games there, and then head back to our place to party and enjoy the evening.

The plan again is to have a small ball tournament (minimum 3 games for each team) in the morning to compete for the Anthony Geddes Memorial Cup. Once we have numbers confirmed we will randomly select teams to compete. The games will start at 9am, so try to be there a little earlier. The final will begin around 1pm hopefully.
After the presentation we will have some lunch and get ready for the 50/50 yard games tournament. 50% of the buy in goes to the winning team, 50% to be donated. This year we have some new games to debut and more. Additionally, more side show activities will be available, including possibly a longest drive competition!
We hope to have a keg again this year, and for just $10 you can have unlimited access all day and evening!
After that, who knows? If last year is anything to go by, a bunch of drinking games and general merriment at our home until 6am.
We have some spare bedrooms, a few big ol' couches, and plenty of space for air mattresses. So feel free to plan to crash for the night.
The buy in for the day is $40. The break down is $20 for ball, $20 for yard games 50/50 tournament (plus $10 for the keg if you want in).
Money can be sent to [email protected].
If you feel like donating more, you are welcome to send it and we can make a mass donation is Anthony's name, or if you prefer you can donate directly at the website below.
The money raised is going to be donated to ALS Canada, which will be directed towards scientific research to find a cure. You can find out more about them here.

I have sent this invite out to a bunch of folks, if you have anyone you think would love a fun and meaningful day in the sun, please feel free to send them an invite.
I am very appreciative of you all and can't wait for a great day.
Cheers,
Ben
