The Renewable Energy Directive II (REDII) establishes binding targets, aiming for advanced biofuels to constitute 3.5% of the energy mix by 2030, particularly by encouraging the use of non-crop feedstocks. Complementing this effort, the EU has introduced regulations to promote sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and maritime fuels.
