About this Event
CCM's office hours are scheduled times when experienced makers are scheduled to be in the Fab Lab and are available to assist active makerspace members with their 3D printing / 3D scanning projects!
Whether you're a beginner needing advice, stuck on a step, or just want reassurance before moving forward, this is your chance to get support. There's no formal instruction here -- just open-ended, project-based mentoring in a collaborative, low-pressure environment.
You're welcome to drop in, but signing up helps us make sure there’s enough space and support.
Kevin Wiley is a freelance project manager for creatives and a curriculum architect for OpenPathEducation.com. He's a good person to ask about 3D printing and 3D Scanning, if you see him in the Fab Lab.
When he's not teaching at Clear Creek Makerspace, he's busy with his many side gigs: live-streaming and capturing video for weddings, concerts, and other special events; managing projects and careers for creative professionals; running kickstarter campaigns; wrangling gigantic quantities of data; and providing consulting for logistics, marketing, and operations for small businesses and startups. If you ask him about his ferrets, he will probably never stop talking.
Featuring a 3D Scanning Demo!
Kevin will be at the makerspace with his Creality Raptor scanner kit. He'll be set up in the Fab Lab by 1pm, and will stay until five pm. Bring anything you want to have 3D scanned! Or just come on by to learn how it works.
With its blue laser mode, the Raptor can scan tiny things and large things (up to 2 meters across) at very high 0.1mm accuracy. It can also do infrared scanning, which is faster, full-color, and safe for scanning people and faces.
We've scanned car parts, electronics, ceramic gnomes, pottery, plaster casts, prosthetics, and other complex shapes for 3D printing or highly accurate measurement. What do you have that would be interesting to scan?
