About Our Special Guest Preacher:
Rev. Dikiea Elery, is the first female settled senior pastor of the historic East Second Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lexington, Ky. She recently returned to Lexington from Columbus, Ohio, where she was the Associate Director of Religious and Spiritual Life at Capital University. She also worked as the Director of Educational Talent Search at Bluegrass Community and Technical College for 12 years before moving to Columbus. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary. She is currently working toward a Doctor of Ministry degree at Lexington Theological Seminary.
Rev. Elery was ordained into Christian ministry in 2009 at East Second Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lexington, Ky. She is the proud mother of two sons, Douglas and DeVaughn, and the loving wife of Douglas Elery Sr. Her family is truly her life’s reward.
Rev. Elery’s mission and purpose are to empower people and help them find pathways to reach their full potential. Her goal is to be able to pour all the resources she has into each person she encounters so that when they accomplish their dreams and goals, they will feel compelled to help someone else. The hope is that we affect change in our community and all over the world! It is possible to meet this mission and purpose. She believes it is accomplished one person, one encounter, and one opportunity at a time.
Rev. Elery is excited about the work that God has called her to do in such a time as this. She lives her life in such a way that it declares to God, “Whatever you want me to say, I’ll say. Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do. Lord, wherever you want me to go, I’ll go. For it is my desire to be all that You want me to be!” To God be the Glory!
