Allah has blessed us as we the sisters of C.E.R.W.I.S. (Committee to Enhance the Role of Women in Society) of Masjid As-Salaam in Columbia, S.C. invite you to attend our 30th Annual Sisters' Retreat on December 5-7, 2025, at the Medallion Conference Center in Columbia, S.C. We are limiting attendance to 75 sisters. You are asked to make plans now to attend.

LODGING

Springhill Suites is the designated hotel for lodging and opened in February 2023. It is located at 170 East Exchange Boulevard. Please call 803-704-1600 to book under the name CERWIS Women’s Muslim Group. The last day to book is November 7, 2025 to receive the group discount rate.. This all suites hotel offers complimentary breakfast, self-parking and WIFI. We have reserved a block of rooms with double queen beds, and in addition all rooms have a trundle bed. The hotel has a business and fitness center. Please note that the check in time is 3pm on Friday and check out time is 12noon Sunday.

MEETING

Retreat check-in time at the Medallion Center (Salon C) on Friday, December 5 begins at 11:30am and ends at 8:00 p.m. Al Jumuah prayer will be on-site at 1:30p.m. Lunch will be served at 12noon before Al-Jumuah, and dinner will be served Friday evening. Saturday registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The Medallion Center is in front of the hotel so only a few steps away. Your vehicle can stay parked in the hotel parking lot.

SECURITY

Muslim brothers will be on the grounds for security. They will also assist with loading and unloading.

VENDORS

First Come! First Reserved! Vendors must register for the retreat before a table can be reserved. The cost is $60 for 1 table. The vendor fee is the same even if you are only vending for one day. A tablecloth is provided, however, feel free to bring one of your choice.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

C.E.R.W.I.S. will collect monetary donations to help support community service projects. A donation jar will be available at the registration table for cash, checks or money orders payable to CERWIS. Funds accepted by cash app at $masjid5119.

SPECIAL ASSISTANCE

Any sisters with special dietary or physical needs please let us know in advance. Please remember to bring any required medications, medical devices or other equipment. Each suite has a refrigerator and microwave. Please check with hotel staff when making reservations if any specific accommodation are needed.

HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

We are encouraging sisters to bring a face mask to wear when indoors or it is difficult to maintain social distancing. Please do not attend the retreat if you are not feeling well.

YOUTH ATTENDANCE

Young sisters ages 13-17 are welcome to attend the retreat along with a parent or a guardian. We ask that those under thirteen not attend, except for nursing babies. Childcare is not provided.

DIETARY INFORMATION

We will be having halal meat at the retreat. Any sister with special dietary needs can bring personal food items if desired (mini refrigerator and microwave in each room). Salads will be provided for lunch and dinner meals. Breakfast is provided only at Springhill Suites from 6:30-9:00am.Those sisters not staying at the hotel and only coming for Saturday will be able to get a continental breakfast in the meeting room upon arrival.You may bring your personal snacks as well. Several restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel including Waffle House, Shoney’s, Pizza Hut, and Captain Ds.

RETREAT PACKING LIST

Please bring your Quran and prayer rug as well as personal Medic*tion and any medical equipment. Also bring funds to support vendors.
