3000 Lesbians go to York!
In the first decade of this millennium, the Lesbian Arts Festival in York was the largest gathering of lesbian and bi women in the UK.
A new book by Jane Traies captures the voices of those who were there, through their stories and photographs.

3000 Lesbians Go to York is a treasure trove of inclusive queer history. It includes interviews with Jackie Kay, Stella Duffy, Sarah Waters, Val McDermid, Horse McDonald, festival founder Jenny Roberts and many others who attended or organised the festival.
Jane Traies will be talking about the book and will be in conversation with some of the contributors so you can listen to some of the individual stories first hand and find it our how it all began.
3000 Lesbians Go to York is also in the process of becoming a documentary film! We will be screening a special preview of the full length documentary.

EVENT DETAILS:
WHEN: Saturday 29 March

VENUE: Ironworks Studios - BN1 4GD
TICKETS: Tickets are on a sliding scale. Spaces are limited so booking is mandatory.
History Club is open to all 18+ to attend, refreshments and hot drinks will be provided. The venue will also be operating a bar, selling both soft drink and alcoholic beverages.

ACCESSIBILITY: Ironworks is a wheelchair accessible space, with accessible toilets. The talk will be relaxed, and you will be able to leave the room and access again if you need to take breaks.
The talk will not include flashing lights or loud noises.
