Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your safari adventure begins with a morning departure from Nairobi at around 7:00 AM. The drive to Amboseli National Park takes approximately four hours taking you through scenic Maasai towns and open plains. Along the way you’ll catch your first glimpses of the diverse landscapes that Kenya is famous for. You’ll arrive at Amboseli at around 11:00 AM where you will check into your chosen accommodation such as the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge Ol Tukai Lodge or Kibo Safari Camp.

After settling in a leisurely lunch will be served at your lodge often with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. Following some relaxation you’ll head out for your first afternoon game drive at 3:00 PM. Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of elephants which roam freely across the savannah often with Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak towering in the background. You’ll also encounter a variety of wildlife including zebras giraffes buffaloes and possibly lions or cheetahs. As the sun begins to set you’ll return to the lodge around 5:30 PM where you can unwind and enjoy the changing colors of the sky.

In the evening a delicious dinner will be served from 7:30 PM and you’ll have the option to relax under the stars. Many lodges offer evening cultural performances by the local Maasai people giving you a taste of the rich cultural heritage of the region. After a full day of adventure you’ll retire for the night ready for more exploration.

Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli National Park

The second day starts early with a 6:00 AM game drive to take advantage of the animals’ increased activity in the cool morning hours. Early mornings in Amboseli offer stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro bathed in the soft light of the rising sun providing a perfect backdrop for capturing wildlife on camera. After the game drive you’ll return to your lodge for a hearty breakfast at around 8:30 AM and then you can relax for a few hours. Enjoy the amenities of your lodge whether it’s lounging by the pool taking a nature walk or simply soaking in the peaceful surroundings.

In the afternoon after a delicious lunch at 12:30 PM you’ll head out for a cultural visit to a Maasai village. This experience gives you the chance to learn about the Maasai way of life including their customs housing and colorful attire. You’ll also witness traditional Maasai dances and have the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts. After the village visit your safari continues with a second afternoon game drive at 3:00 PM. You’ll explore the park’s marshlands which are home to a variety of bird species and hippos along with other animals like wildebeest and gazelles. By 5:30 PM you’ll return to your lodge where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the sun setting over the plains.

Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM and the evening is yours to spend as you please. You might enjoy some stargazing as the skies above Amboseli are often crystal clear providing a brilliant display of stars. Alternatively many lodges offer wildlife talks or other informative sessions that deepen your understanding of the animals and ecosystems you’ve been observing.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park to Nairobi

Your final day in Amboseli begins with another early morning game drive at 6:30 AM giving you one last chance to see any animals you might have missed. The park’s morning atmosphere with its cool breeze and golden light is a magical time for photography and wildlife spotting. After the drive you’ll return to your lodge for breakfast at 9:00 AM where you can enjoy a leisurely meal before packing up and checking out.

By 11:00 AM you’ll begin your journey back to Nairobi. As you leave the park take one last look at Amboseli’s magnificent wildlife and landscapes. The drive back provides a final chance to soak in the beauty of Kenya’s countryside. You’ll arrive in Nairobi by approximately 3:00 PM marking the end of your unforgettable three-day safari.
