Following the success of our 1st PWAS horse road safety awareness ride on 29th March 2026, we are planning an further ride for Sunday 20th September 2026. Further details will be posted nearer the time. In the meantime, here is some information about why we are doing this:
Last year alone, over 3,000 road incidents involving horses were recorded nationwide, with dozens of horses killed or seriously injured. Most of these incidents involved vehicles passing too fast or too close.
The ride supports the national Pass Wide and Slow road safety campaign, which ask drivers to:
• Slow to 10mph or less
• Leave at least 2 metres of space
• Be patient and pass only when safe
Our aim is simple:
✔️ Raise awareness
✔️ Improve safety
✔️ Protect horses, riders and drivers
