PANTHEON 2.0An exhibition by Monsieur Diop
Pantheon 2.0 is the second installation of Monsieur Diop’s ongoing body of work.
Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek religious icons, Diop creates new imaginative spiritual entities, mythological figures that feel both ancestral and contemporary.
Through these works, he reflects on his local community in the Northern Rivers and the broader shift in Western society toward exploring alternative spiritual paths.
As people reconnect with ancient and Indigenous traditions, sometimes with great reverence, sometimes through problematic reappropriation, Diop positions himself as an observer.
He witnesses the longing for meaning, the search for belonging, the beauty, the tensions, the contrasts...
These figures emerge from that observation. They are playful and symbolic, layered and inquisitive, light-hearted and deeply reflective.
