Potluck lunch and clothing swap
Noon to 4pm open house
𝗙𝗔𝗤:
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲?
This is your chance to clean out your closet of all your gently worn clothes, accessories, shoes (Not just dresses -- really anything that you wear) that you don't want anymore. Bring them along or drop them off any time before and leave them inside the front alcove doors. Then on SATURDAY May 3rd come visit, eat yummy food, and try on other clothes for yourself to take home with you. Leftover clothes will be packed up for various charities, though we will keep any special dance dresses that haven’t found a home for future years. This is a clothing swap for personal attire and charity.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗜 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴?
All contributions are optional. If you have clothes to bring, that’s great. If not come anyway. If you want to bring something to eat, it is a potluck lunch. Feel free to bring a friend or two (women identifying only please, as we'll be trying on these clothes throughout the house).
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽?
The Dress Exchange can keep happening because lots of people help out. Everyone is expected to pitch in to help. We need several people to help set up one hour before, and several (preferably different) people to help pack clothes and clean up for about 2 hours at the end. We also could use several people to drive clothes to our targeted charities. We also could use a few people to help set up on Friday the 2nd from 2 to 6pm.
Alternately, you can help during the exchange by chipping in to keep the clothes tidy, the food table organized, and the kitchen tidied during the exchange. We'll have a sign up for shifts to welcome and orient people at the door, and for helping to tidy the food table and the kitchen.
𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼?
We target various charities every year. Most years we send some things to thrift stores that support the Women's Shelter. Often we send things also to a local shelter. The Viet Nam Vets will pick up the remainder. In the past we have also supported an orphanage, a group that collects prom clothes for high school students, the Thomas Merton Center, and more.
If you have a charity that needs items from the Dress Exchange, feel free to collect for them too or suggest a charity for us to target.
