2026 Waikato Champs
Massive thanks to our sponsors Frankton Model Shop & Zero Fire. The event would not be possible without your support.
Entry cost per person is $50 which needs to be paid no later than Wednesday the 16th of July 2026 (PM me for payment details or use my 02 account if you have it saved already). This allows entry into all the competitions if wanted (2 driving classes & show and shine). We will also have trophies for the top qualifier in each class along with a best newcomer trophy for shell building. The newcomer shell trophy is to encourage more of you to bring something to the show and only applies for those who have never won a trophy for shell building in any competition in the past.
There will be minimum time for practice on the day, so I encourage you all to come to the venue on Saturday the 20th of June for a full day of testing & tuning (we are not having a BCS series comp on this day). That way we can speed up the Waikato Champs event on the day.
If you are wanting to attend, please notify me ASAP and make payment before the due date. I will set up a private group chat once there are enough confirmed entrants, to discuss any details not mentioned in this post.
We will be running rolling judges like previous comps, using video footage to help determine battle results. It would be great to get a representative from each area/crew to help with judging. Let me know if you can help, we could split judging duties into each class if we get enough volunteers.
Here are the rules/requirements for each competition – please read carefully as no exceptions will be taken on the day. Please PM me before the payment due date if you have any queries.
OPEN CLASS
- RWD chassis only, must have body shell mounted
- Chassis must be different to 17.5T chassis used
- No motor, battery, turbo, boost or motor timing restrictions
- Body restrictions: no tall vans or trucks which obstruct the view of other drivers, front bumpers must be intact, furthest point of rear bumper must be intact, rear bumper must also prevent rear wheels from hitting our wooden barriers that are 35mm high – bash bars can be used (trying to prevent body shells overhanging the barriers as this makes it unfair for the chase car during battles)
- MST silver dot rear tyres, MST gold dot front tyres (prefer new for the event or very minimum wear)
17.5T CLASS
- RWD chassis only, must have body shell mounted
- Chassis must be different to Open Class chassis used
- 17.5T motor only, no turbo or boost
- 40 motor timing maximum
- FDR to be between 7.5 - 8.5
- No electrics, battery or added weight located behind the factory positioned rear shock tower
- Body shell must be at least a 25-year-old model car (2000 and before), no tall vans or trucks which obstruct the view of other drivers, both front and rear bumpers to be fully intact, no liveries, street style only
- MST WHITE dot rear tyres, MST gold dot front tyres (prefer new for the event or very minimum wear)
SHOW & SHINE
- Shell cannot have been entered in previous competition
- All work must be your own (apart from items purchased from retailer)
- Shell must be mounted on working RWD chassis
I will be getting some good-looking trophies made as usual and there will be cash/voucher prizes along with spot prizes up for grabs.
Keep the date free and I hope to see you at the 2026 Waikato Champs!
