2026 United Airlines NYC Half Plogging Event

Join us on Saturday, March 14th at 12:00 pm for a 2-mile plog led by NYRR Coaches, Staff, and Tina Muir. Plogging refers to the act of picking up trash while running. The expression stems from the Swedish term "plocka upp" meaning "to pick up" and is combined with the English term “jogging”.

This activity will introduce new movements into your run while helping clean up our planet. It's perfect to do as a pre-race shakeout! Let's raise the incredible 70+ person attendance we had for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon!

No plogging experience is required, and runners of all paces are welcome. NYRR will provide compostable bags and gloves to all registered ploggers. Restrooms and lockers (on a first-come, first-served basis) will be available.

We will be plogging rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.

Tina Muir is a climate advocate, former elite marathoner, and founder of Racing for Sustainability, a nonprofit dedicated to driving environmental and social responsibility in the running industry.
