Friday, February 6
8:00 am Registration in Hulsey Lobby
9:00 am Performance/clinic with UAB Jazz Faculty
11:00 am Masterclasses on individual instruments with UAB Jazz Faculty
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm UAB Jazz Student performance
2:00 pm Jam Session (Beginning and Advanced)
3:00 pm Clinic with Don Was
5:00 pm Dinner/Jam Sessions
7:00 pm Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble Concert
The 2026 UAB Jazz Summit will take place Friday, February 6th in the UAB Hulsey Center and the Alys Stephens Center. This is an opportunity for high school students and excellent 8th graders to immerse themselves in a collegiate jazz experience and learn from UAB jazz professors and professional jazz musicians. Students will participate in masterclasses, clinics, and jam sessions, and this year will receive instruction and a performance from world-class bassist, producer and director, Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble. All participating students will receive a UAB Jazz T-shirt, access to concerts, workshops, clinics, and masterclasses and lunch and dinner the day of the Summit.
