TYCA-MW's annual conference explores the two-year college as a site of innovation in writing instruction and of political resistance.
About this Event

All events will be held at the MCC Institute for the Culinary Arts, Building 22, at our historic Fort Omaha Campus (5300 N. 30th St., Omaha, NE 68111).

Our theme for the 2026 conference is "The Cutting Edge," a prompt we are understanding in two ways. First, the conference will address community colleges as sites of innovation in teaching writing. Second, we will consider how we work as we face the political hostilities of the present moment.

This year's Keynote Presenter is Melissa Tayles, an English Instructor at Metropolitan Community College and a nationally recognized expert on trauma-informed writing pedagogy. She has presented on accelerated learning placement (ALP), and teaching circles, and her work has been published in TETYC.

For more details about the conference, please visit the TYCA-MW website.

**ACCOMMODATIONS: The Forum has been planned with accessibility in mind, but audience members requiring accommodations should contact Kim Armstrong, [email protected] at least two weeks prior to the program to ensure specific accommodations are in place. **
