🎨 Summer Arts Academy 2026 Registration is Open! ☀️Join us this summer for two exciting weeks of creativity, exploration, and hands-on artmaking through Kaddatz Galleries’ Summer Arts Academy!
Designed for youth entering grades K–4 and grades 5–8, Summer Arts Academy offers engaging, age-appropriate art experiences led by talented teaching artists. All classes include supplies, and scholarships are available.
SESSION 1: June 22–26
Grades K–4
Mixed Media Puppets & Painting
Instructor: Jona Brown
🕙 10 AM–12 PM
📍 Kaddatz Galleries Classroom

Students will imagine a world of fun and fantasy while creating a variety of puppets and props! Young artists will explore making puppets from common household materials, assemble a swooping dragon, decorate a treasure chest, craft additional simple puppets, and create a painted backdrop for their creations. This playful class encourages imagination, storytelling, and creative problem-solving.
Grades 5–8
Inspired by Minnesota: Pottery & Sculpture Adventure
Instructor: Blayze Buseth

This hands-on, story-driven workshop invites students to explore Minnesota’s artistic and natural landscape through clay. Over five sessions, participants will draw inspiration from lakes, forests, prairies, and regional artistic traditions while learning clay techniques such as pinch, coil, slab, carving, and sculptural building. Students will create projects that become part of their own imaginative artistic journey.
SESSION 2: July 27–31
Grades K–4
Inspired by Minnesota: Pottery & Sculpture Adventure

Young artists will explore Minnesota through art and storytelling in this clay-focused class designed especially for elementary students. Through imaginative, hands-on projects, students will create pieces inspired by the state’s natural beauty and artistic traditions while learning foundational pottery and sculpture techniques in a fun and supportive environment.
Grades 5–8
Mixed Media Explorations
Instructor: Naomi RaMona Schliesman

This week-long mixed media class invites students to explore both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artmaking through a wide range of materials and techniques. Participants will experiment with acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, clay relief, colored pencil, printmaking, collage, sculpture, and more while learning about art vocabulary, design principles, and influential art movements. This class encourages curiosity, creative confidence, and artistic voice in a supportive studio setting.
Scholarships Available
