🎉 Join us for the 2026 Project SOY Plus Finale & 30 Year Showcase!

This annual event brings together the University of Guelph community, industry professionals and the public to recognize the outstanding work of this year's student competitors. This event will also honour the 30 years of creativity and commercialization in this special anniversary year.

Project SOY Plus (Sustainable Opportunities for You) is an annual University of Guelph student competition that has inspired sustainability‑focused innovation since 1996.

Originally launched to encourage new soybean product development, it has since expanded to include a wide range of plant‑based and sustainability‑driven concepts across all disciplines.

Students participate through two streams—Project and Creative—developing innovations or artistic responses aligned with an annual sustainability theme.

Experience the excitement as student teams present their final pitches to a panel of judges, projects inspired by this year’s theme: “Biodiversity by Design.”

Following the pitches, we will celebrate the top projects with an awards presentation recognizing excellence in innovation, feasibility, sustainability and creativity.

Wander through the team booths during our open house portion. Meet the students, explore hands‑on displays, and learn about the applied research and entrepreneurial thinking behind each project.

In honour of the program’s 30th anniversary, enjoy a special retrospective exhibit featuring milestone moments, past projects, and alumni achievements that have shaped Project SOY Plus over the years.
