We are pleased to announce the 5th International Conference on Aging and Disease: 2026 Postmortem Research in Dementia Workshop, a unique two-day forum convening researchers, clinicians, and trainees as well as forensic pathologists and medical examiners at the intersection of in vivo neuroimaging and postmortem neuropathology. Hosted by NYU Grossman School of Medicine in partnership with the International Society on Aging and Disease, this workshop will take place at NYU Langone Health in New York City on August 13–14, 2026. It will feature innovative tools and resources for integrating postmortem insights with in vivo imaging research in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD). Theme of the Workshop

The two-day program features scientific sessions on the following critical topics:

  • Recent in vivo clinical and neuroimaging breakthroughs in dementia (past 5 years).
  • Neuropathology insights across dementia subtypes and medicolegal contexts.
  • Advanced ex vivo imaging: optimized protocols, tools, and quality control.
  • Advanced histology methods and brain tissue processing/analysis.
  • In vivo & postmortem research cross-modal integration in TBI and other dementias.
  • Normal vs. pathological aging: Trajectories, biomarkers, and dementia signatures.
  • Tools & resources for dementia research/education: digital autopsy & image library.
  • ARIA insights: Leveraging postmortem evidence to guide therapeutic strategies.
  • Expert panels highlighting critical gaps, evolving priorities, & future of the field.

Early Bird Registration

From now until July 5th, 2026 Early Bird registration is $600 for faculty and $200 for students, postdocs, and trainees. After the Early Bird period, prices will increase to $700 for faculty and $250 for students, postdocs, and trainees. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, two coffee breaks per day, dinner for two nights, and workshop program materials.
