🎨 10TH ANNIVERSARY NORTH NASHVILLE CULTURE CRAWL
A Decade of Black Creative Power on Jefferson Street
Saturday, October 24, 2026 | 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Kossie Gardner Park & Jefferson Street Corridor | North Nashville, TN | FREE TO ATTEND
Ten years ago, a small group of artists and community members gathered on Jefferson Street to do something that hadn't been done before — celebrate Black creativity in North Nashville on its own terms, in its own neighborhood, for its own people. That night became the Jefferson Street Art Crawl. What followed was a decade of growth, resistance, joy, and community that transformed how Nashville sees North Nashville creative legacy.
On October 24, 2026, the North Nashville Arts Coalition invites you back to where it all started.
The 10th Anniversary North Nashville Culture Crawl is our biggest milestone yet — a free, all-day celebration of 10 years of Black creative culture in 37208. Multiple curated art shows. Live music. Creative activations. Community programming. And the people who have made this corridor one of the most vibrant creative neighborhoods in the South.
🗺 VENUES & PROGRAMMING
KOSSIE GARDNER PARK — Main Hub | 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
The heart of the crawl. Come early and stay all day. Under a giant tent, experience our main gallery show — ONE NIGHT ONLY — a curated exhibition of Black art that you cannot see anywhere else, assembled specifically for this milestone moment. Our lead curator, Stephen Watts, brings together works from Black artists connected to North Nashville and the broader community.
Outside the tent: live music on the stage, creative hands-on artmaking activities, food, vendors, and the energy that only Jefferson Street can produce.
WOODCUTS GALLERY — Art Show | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
One of North Nashville's most beloved gallery spaces. A curated month long show featuring Black creatives in the Ubuntu tradition — works that speak to community, identity, and the power of collective belonging. Curated by Marteja Bailey
ALKEBULAN — Historical Activation | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
An educational and historical experience anchored by Dr. Learotha Williams Jr. — Davidson County Historian and TSU professor — with a presentation and short film honoring the legacy of Black artists and creatives who built the cultural identity of North Nashville.
JEFFERSON STREET SOUND — Music Activation | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Live music deep in the corridor. Jefferson Street Sound has been a cornerstone of North Nashville's sonic landscape — on crawl night, it's yours. Join Troika Hannah for an unforgettable musical experience!
KINGDOM CAFE — Monday Night Jazz, Extended | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Frederick Weathersby extends his legendary Monday Night Jazz format for crawl night at Kingdom Cafe, 2610 Jefferson Street. Come for the food, stay for the music, feel what this corridor has always been about.
🌟 THE NORTH STAR MIXER — PRE-CRAWL CELEBRATION | Thursday, October 22
Fisk University — Carl Van Vechten Gallery | Thursday, October 22, 2026
The weekend kicks off Thursday, October 22 with the North Star Mixer — an exclusive 10th Anniversary gathering at the Carl Van Vechten Gallery at Fisk University, one of the most historically significant gallery spaces in Black America. Named for the North Star that has guided this community's creative journey for a decade, this evening is an invitation to connect with artists, collectors, curators, donors, and community leaders in an intimate setting before the big day. Separate ticketing — details coming soon.
🚌 GETTING AROUND — CRAWL SHUTTLE
Soul of America Tours will be operating as our official crawl shuttle, running along the Jefferson Street corridor between venues throughout the evening. Hop on, hop off — the whole night is yours to explore. Shuttle stops will be clearly marked at each venue. Map will be available on our website and distributed on-site at Kossie Gardner Park.
🎨 THE THEME: UBUNTU
Ubuntu is a Southern African philosophy that translates as 'I am because we are.' It is the belief that our humanity is bound up in each other — that who we are as individuals is inseparable from our community, our history, and the people who came before us.
For the 10th anniversary, Ubuntu is the lens through which every show, every activation, and every moment is viewed. North Nashville's creative legacy was never built by one person. It was built by all of us, together.
