About this Event

Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2026

Time: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Location: McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC

Each year, the NCIOM hosts its Annual Meeting as a platform for conversations about important health policy topics impacting North Carolina. This year, we will focus on innovations in health care—from artificial intelligence to creative process solutions—and examine impacts shaping policy and costs at the federal and state level as well as care delivery in local communities.

Breakout topics will include:

  • Workforce innovations, from simulation-based training and remote monitoring to new credentialing pipelines and fellowship opportunities.
  • New technologies and quality of care, including perspectives on ambient listening technology, use cases for predictive analytics, and strategies to evaluate impact on patient experience and outcomes.
  • Access to care, from telehealth and school-based services to mental health rapid response and mobile units.
  • Innovations and equity, focusing on community-centered partnerships, community-owned data models, and strategies to enhance communication with patients.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Brian Anderson. Dr. Anderson is the Chief Executive Officer of the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI), a non-profit coalition he co-founded in 2021. CHAI is focused on developing a set of consensus-driven guidelines and best practices for Responsible AI in Health, as well as supporting the ability to independently test and validate AI for safety and effectiveness.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Anderson served as Chief Digital Health Physician at MITRE, where he led major national digital health initiatives, including support for the White House COVID-19 response and AI-driven innovations in oncology and clinical research. Dr. Anderson is an internationally recognized author and expert in digital health and is regularly engaged as a speaker on digital health innovation, health standards development, clinical decision support systems, and interoperability.
