Community partners, public transit enthusiasts, poetry and art lovers, and anyone just curious is encouraged to attend the 2026 Art by Bus Celebration! Everyone is welcome!
Come and celebrate the official release of the chapbook “The Bus Goes on Green: From Atom to Biosphere” by local poet Chanlee Luu, our 2026 Writer by Bus. We are thrilled to present her original poetry and photography to the broader Roanoke Valley community.

Third Street Transit Station 325 Salem Ave SW, Roanoke VA, 24011

Celebration: 10:30 – 11 AM
Group Bus Ride 11 AM – 11:30 AM
At the event:
• Discover Chanlee's creative journey as she shares insights about her chapbook and her experiences traveling through Roanoke by bus.
• Listen to partners from the Art by Bus project, including representatives from the City of Roanoke, Valley Metro, Roanoke Arts Commission, RIDE Solutions, and the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission.
• Grab your limited-edition copy of “The Bus Goes on Green: From Atom to Biosphere” and have it signed by Chanlee Luu!
• Don't miss the photo opportunity at the newly wrapped Valley Metro bus, showcasing Lucinda Rowe's artwork titled “Stronger Together,” a mural from the Walls that Unite in Grandin Village.
ART BY BUS GROUP RIDE
Following the celebration and press conference at the Transit Station, attendees are welcome to join a group bus ride with Chanlee Luu and project partners! We’ll leave around 11 AM for a ride from the 3rd Street Transit Station and back.
ABOUT ART BY BUS
The Art by Bus program showcases how our communities and citizens are connected through public transportation. The program hopes to inspire residents of all walks of life to try riding the bus to get where they need to go and see transit from a new perspective.
