2026 AIA MM & MMCOA Spring Training

Training is located at Brody Square, the building in the center of the Brody Complex. Enter the building and take the stairs or elevator directly up to the desk at the entrance to the cafeteria on the 2nd Floor.

Parking:

Available at the Kellog Hotel and Conference Center across Harrison Rd from Brody Square and is included in the registration fee. Parking is not at Brody Square.

Registration:

$110.00 for members (AIAM M or MMCOA) and $140.00.00 for non-members with limited seating - first come, first serve basis. Registration will be available via Eventbrite. Registration will close at 12:00 pm on April 7, 2026.

2021 IBC Exit Systems This seminar focuses on IBC Chapter 10 means of egress components that are defined and regulated as “exits,” the high-level elements that provide occupant protection within the means of egress system.

Specific topics include: Exterior exit doors at the level of exit discharge; Interior exit stairways and ramps; Horizontal exits; Exit passageways; Exterior exit stairs and ramps; Exit discharge

2021 IBC Use of Fire Sprinklers and Alarms This seminar identifies those conditions where automatic sprinkler protection and/or fire alarm systems are required. The fire area concept will be discussed, as will the varying extent of sprinkler protection required based upon specific situations. The discussion will address many of the key code conditions under which the presence of an automatic sprinkler system can be used to modify other requirements.

Both courses offer 3 hours each of HSW and BCC credits. Details to follow.

Presenter Information:

Doug Thornburg (An Architect and former VP for Education for the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), Thornburg has developed numerous educational texts and resource materials. Named ICC Educator of the Year in 2008. Doug has over 34 years of experience in building code training and administration and has authored several code-related publications, including the IBC Handbook and Significant Changes to the International Building Code.
