Learn about Space careers and the pathways to enter them from companies and industries directly involved with the Australian Space Sector
About this Event

Upper Primary, Secondary school students and teachers are encouraged by the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and Hamilton Secondary College to attend a 1 hour Space Passport session at the 19th Space Forum being held in Adelaide, South Australia on Tuesday 21st July or Wednesday 22nd July, 2026 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. These sessions provide the perfect opportunity for students and teachers to learn about current/future careers within the Space Economy and Industry and inspire young people to develop the skills to push forward the frontiers of scientific knowledge.

The Space Passport sessions encourage students to;

  • Talk directly to companies currently involved with the Australian Space Sector
  • Ask companies about current and future careers within their industry
  • Find out about the school and tertiary pathways needed to enter the discussed careers
  • Have their Space Passport stamped by 4 exhibiting companies after discussing careers and pathways then enter details in an online survey at the Hamilton Secondary College - Space School Booth to win a prize
  • Discover how Government School students can register Space Passport Sessions as a 'My Career Portal' activity through the SA Department for Education Student Pathways website.

Space Passport sessions for late primary, secondary students and teachers are only available on each day of the Space Forum from 8:45am - 9:45am (Session 1), 11:00am-12:00pm (Session 2) and 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm (Session 3) for both Government and Catholic/Independent sectors when Exhibitors at their Booths will be available for queries and discussions. An new session on the Tuesday from 3:45-4:45 pm (Session 4) has been added for Children's University, Teachers and other individual students (accompanied by parents if under 18) that wish to attend after school hours.

Many of our previous Space Passport participants have also attended sessions with The Australian Space Agency at the Australian Space Discovery Centre (ASDC) before or after their Space Passport session. It is recommended that adjacent sessions be booked when registering for Space Passport tickets on the ticket booking page. Four sesions are available on each day 9:30-10:20 [Session A]; 10:30-11:20 [Session B], 11:30-12:20 [Session C] and 12:30-13:20 [Session D].

Currently transport between the Space Discovery Centre (Lot Fourteen) and the Space Passport (Adelaide Convention Centre) sessions is via free 'Botanic Gardens' tram access on North Terrace which run every 10 minutes.(https://www.railmaps.com.au/routedetails.php?TableSelect=500&traveldate=2022-10-25&)

Registrations will open Friday 1st May (Term 2: Week 1) and close 5pm Thursday 02 July, 2023 (Term2: Week 10).

With the limited availability of this event and our Space related company exhibitors’ time to maximise the amount of students that are able to attend, there are currently a total of 60 tickets available in each session. It is recommended that parents register with their students for individual registrations and Interstate students travelling with parents attending the 19th Space forum can also register.

Registered students, teachers and parents need to 'Check In' at the start of their Space Passport session at the Hamilton Secondary College - Space School Booth .

Due to number restrictions all Space Passport Session registrants who do not hold an all-day 19th Space Forum registration will be asked to finalise their passports/survey data and leave the Exhibitors Hall by either 9.50 am (Session 1), 12.05 am (Session 2) and 3:05 pm (Session 3). The Exhibition hall will close on Tuesday at 5pm (Session 4).

Access to Space Forum talks and drinks/refreshments are only available for FULL Space Forum delegates. If you wish to attend the full Space Forum - The Andy Thomas Space Foundation is proud to offer a substantial educational discount to support the attendance of students, teachers and school leaders at Student/Teacher registrations at 19th Australian Space Forum (#19ASF).
