MEGA BAKER MARATHON RULES
Baker Format: All five bowlers will bowl 2 frames in each game; frames 1 & 6, 2 & 7, etc.. Order can be changed at the start of each game. Teams will move after each game is completed. Both teams must be at the assigned lanes before each match can begin.
Format: Tournament will be 32 baker games of match play. Each game the winning team will earn 20 bonus pins, 10 pins for any ties. Game 32 will be a position round. After 32 games, the top 12 teams will bowl a single-elimination bracket. The top 4 teams will receive a 1st round bye. Each round will be a best of 3 format. All 12 teams will cash. Size of bracket, and number of cashing teams, may be adjusted if less than 46 teams.
Entry Fee: $400 per team ($80 per bowler) $335 prize fund and $65 lineage. Teams from the 2024 event have until August 31st, 2024 to pay their $80 deposit. After that date, any remaining spots will be given to whomever pays their deposit first. Each team’s remaining $320 is due no later than December 31st, 2024, or that team will forfeit their deposit and spot in the event. THERE WILL BE ASBOLUTELY NO REFUNDS AFTER FEBRUARY 15TH, 2025! All prize money returned 100% on at least a 1 in 4 ratio.
All participants must be in good standing and currently sanctioned with USBC. PBA/PWBA members are welcomed.
Entering Average:
a. Highest 2023-2024 average with a minimum of 21 games. (Sport averages will be converted and used if higher.)
b. If no 2023-2024 average with minimum 21 games, then highest current average with 21 games will be used.
c. If (a) and (b) do not apply, bowler will use a 220 (scratch) average.
d. IF YOUR CURRENT AVERAGE WITH 21 OR MORE GAMES IS 10 PINS HIGHER, YOU MUST USE THAT AVERAGE.
NO SCORE SHALL EXCEED 300, INCLUDING APPLICABLE HANDICAP!
Handicap is based on 80% of 220 per bowler.
i.e. Bowler A – 206 220 – 206 = 14 * 80% = 11
Bowler B – 183 220 – 183 = 37 * 80% = 29
Bowler C – 211 220 – 211 = 9 * 80% = 7
Bowler D – 220 220 – 220 = 0 * 80% = 0
Bowler E – 197 220 – 197 = 23 * 80% = 18
TOTAL - 1017 TOTAL = 65/5 = 13
Optional team handicap and scratch brackets will be available. Brackets will be $5 each and will start on games 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27 and 30. `High Game Pot will be offered for both Handicap and Scratch, pay the top game for each of the 32 qualifying games, and cost $100 to enter each, or $200 total, per team. A 300-game pot will also be offered at $100/team and will payout equally all 300’s shot during qualifying. There will also be a Bet You Win pot for $100/team. If the winning team did not enter this side pot, the money will roll over to the 2025 event. ALL BRACKET AND SIDE POT MONEY MUST BE PICKED UP PRIOR TO LEAVING THE TOURNAMENT. We will not mail/send money that is not claimed at the end of the event.
