☾ About your host:
Lauren Riensche is a Cedar Falls local and haunted history buff. Lauren has always been fascinated with the spooky stories that find themselves embedded in a community's history, and she has taken dozens of ghost tours in cities around the world. Now, she's excited to share that passion for the paranormal with you in this one-of-a-kind Cedar Falls ghost tour!
☾ FAQ:
- How long is the tour? The tour is about 90 minutes long and spans a one-mile loop.
- Is the tour scary? Spooky? Yes. Scary? Likely not. This is a history-centric tour with some ghostly tales woven in. No jump scares!
- Is the tour just for "believers"? Nope! Whatever your stance is on "what goes bump in the night," we think you'll find the spooky stories and historical tales entertaining.
- Where do we meet? The gazebo at Overman Park. Check in with your host upon arrival. The tour will begin on time—latecomers will not be accommodated.
- Do I need to bring my ticket(s)? It is not necessary to bring a printed ticket. Upon your arrival, you will be checked in under the name used to purchase the ticket(s).
- Is there an age restriction? No, but think of the tour as "PG-13"—the length and content of the tour will not be modified if children are present. Each child will need their own ticket. Any attendees under 18 years old must be accompanied by an of-age guardian.
- Is the tour handicap accessible? Yes, THE TOUR is. Regarding physical handicap accessibility, we will be navigating approximately one mile of urban terrain, including sidewalks with ramps and some slopes.
- What should I bring? Wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing (the tour goes on—rain, shine, or snow). You may also want to bring a water bottle.
- Are there any trigger warnings? Yes. This tour will touch on the topics of death, mental illness, suicide, domestic violence, substance abuse, and racism.
- Are pets allowed on the tour? In order to limit distractions and ensure every guest's comfort, pets are not allowed on the tour. Licensed service animals are always welcome.
- Can I take photos? Absolutely! Who knows, you might catch something unexplained on camera. We just ask that you please do not take videos.
- Is there parking available? Yes, there is free street parking available on all sides of Overman Park.
- Will we be going into any buildings? No. The entirety of the tour will be outdoors, so please plan and dress accordingly. The exception is if you purchase the add-on experience to THE HOUSE, which takes tourgoers inside the Odd Fellows Lodge #233.
- Can I bring my own investigation equipment? Yes. Personal paranormal investigation equipment is allowed on the tour, provided it is small enough to fit in a pocket and is silent.
- Can I buy tickets to just THE HOUSE? No. THE HOUSE add-on experience is only available to 2025 THE TOUR ticket holders. We would love to have more people join, but it is a small, old house and we must limit attendance due to fire code and safety considerations. If you are interested in THE HOUSE experience, please complete your purchase of THE TOUR tickets, and you will receive a follow-up email with info on how to purchase tickets to THE HOUSE, including the password to access the purchase page.
- Is the 2025 tour the same as tours in previous years? Yes. If you've taken the tour before, you're welcome to come relive our spooky stories! The new addition in 2025 is THE INVESTIGATION experience.
