The Sport Tasman Nelson Sport + Recreation Awards recognise outstanding performance and contribution by our region’s sportspeople. They are the premier sports event for the Nelson and Tasman districts. Over their course many local, national and world champions have been honoured for their achievements and their impact on our community.

The live awards dinner returns to Rutherford Hotel in 2024. The expanded awards recognise high performance individuals and teams as well as groups and projects who have a positive impact in our community through active recreation and sport. Community heroes will take their place on stage alongside the elite, high performing athletes in our region.

The ultimate accolade of the evening is the Nelson Sportsperson of the Year who is determined to be the overall winner from the winners of the individual/team high-performance awards.

Sport Tasman is pleased to welcome back MC Jason Pine and introduce our guest of honour for the 2024 awards - Chelsea Lane. Chelsea is a Performance Therapist with 20 years experience working with elite and professional athletes in NZ and overseas.

As the Vice President of Athletic Performance and Sports Medicine for the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) Chelsea was responsible for overseeing the physical and mental wellbeing of her players. During her tenure with the Hawks, the team climbed from the bottom of the table to worthy competitors in the Eastern Conference Finals in three short years. She previoulsy worked as Director of Performance and Sports Medicine for the Golden State Warriors. Under Chelsea's tenure, the team competed in the NBA finals every year, winning an astounding two NBA championships.

A remarkable career for a kiwi woman achieving on the world stage, Chelsea is also an entertaining and engaging speaker who shares key insights about working with high performance athletes at the top of their game.
