2-Day Beginners Pattern Cutting Workshop: Collars and sleeves adaption

Join us for an engaging and interactive 2 -day workshop dedicated to the art of pattern adaptations. This exciting experience is ideal for pattern enthusiasts seeking to refine their pattern-cutting skills. Throughout the workshop, you’ll explore the captivating process of creating ½-scale variations from a basic block. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of styles, including different sleeves and collars. Whether you’re a beginner striving to expand your abilities or an experienced sewist looking to refine your craft, this workshop is thoughtfully designed to be both informative and inspiring.

Your teacher, Manuela, will provide all the equipment you need and adapt the class to your abilities. Manuela is an experienced pattern-cutting teacher at the Fashion Technology Academy in Haringey, which specialises in technical skills training for garment manufacturing, including stitching, production, and pattern-cutting.

What You’ll Learn:

• Introduction to Pattern Making
• What is a pattern?
• Essential tools of the trade
• Understanding pattern anatomy

Pattern adaptions

• What is a block, and why is it important?
• Learn to create various sleeve adaptations, such as a gathered sleeve head and a cuff.
• Learn to make various collar adaptations, such as a Peter Pan and a classic collar.
• How to properly label and mark individual pattern pieces with symbols and notches.
